8% Ice Café (Taipei, TAIWAN) ★★★☆☆

We started our visit to Yong Kang Street (永康街) by making a quick pit stop at 8% Ice Café first.



I love visiting cafés in Taipei because people here always seem to wear a smile on their face.



8% Ice is an artisanal ice cream parlour and patisserie all under one roof.



I was pretty amazed with their wide selection of over 20 flavors of gelato around here. Not bad for a small gelateria like this!



There's another counter where they sell their artisanal pastries.



They reserve this corner for customers to sit down and enjoy their gelato and cakes should they choose to dine in.



I went with their homemade gelato including two of the most popular flavors, hojicha with honey (蜂蜜焙茶) and chocolate with Earl Grey (伯爵茶巧克力). Both were really rich and flavorful. I particularly liked the hojicha with honey for its well balanced tea flavor rounded by the sweet note of honey.



Yong Kang Street is known to be full of hidden gems. You just have to keep your eyes open and it's not difficult to spot something you like.
