Little nugget has secretly told me that they prepared a birthday cake for me from my favorite cake shop in town. After thinking about it for a moment, I realized I actually didn’t even know which shop it was, so this could be interesting.
When the puzzle was finally solved, I found that the cake was actually from Butterfly Patisserie at Rosewood Hong Kong. I’m not sure it’s my absolute No. 1 favorite in the city, but it definitely ranks extremely high on my list.
White Tea Lychee and Guava Cake — I was initially told that it was an avocado mousse cake but once the smoke cleared, it turned out to be something far more exciting: a white tea lychee, and guava cake.
What stood out was the exotic blend of flavors: lychee for its gentle sweetness, guava for its delicate floral notes, and fragrant white tea to tie everything together. The result is a dessert that feels perfectly balanced — sweet and aromatic, with just enough acidity to keep it refreshing.
When I heard the cake was from Butterfly Patisserie, I was hoping it might be their signature vanilla cake. But honestly, this was a delightful change of pace. There’s a real harmony here—solid sweetness balanced by a lively, tangy lift.
I’m especially glad my team chose this over a more filling vanilla cake for my birthday.
