But once I started walking in front of Lifetastic Patisserie on the 4th floor, I kind of changed my mind. It's been a while since I last had their signature watermelon strawberry cake. They have since launched a few slightly different versions including one with lychee but there was no doubt in my mind what their bread and butter was.
They have this tea set including a piece of cake and drink (coffee or tea) for about $80. It's not a bad deal (since the minimum charge here is around $78).
Watermelon strawberry cake - As close to Black Star Pastry's original version as it gets. The layers include sliced watermelon, rose-scented cream, almond dacquoise and of course the fresh strawberries.
This was as usual very good although texture-wise, it was slightly off (less spongy) and I'm blaming it on the temperature (of the fridge).
I'm about 15 minutes late for my hair appointment. Let's hope my hair stylist won't get too pissed.
