Everyone was dead tired after a long day of walking but there's still one more destination in my itinerary - The Matcha Tokyo located on the ground level of NEWoMan where they offer matcha drinks and desserts made with some of the best top-quality tea leaves from around Japan.
The Matcha Tokyo is dedicated to using ceremonial grade matcha made from the youngest tea leaves which are organic. In order to bring out the best flavors from these tea leaves, the staff here are all trained to use a special traditional technique that has been used in Kyoto for over 250 years to grind the tea leaves using a stone mill.
Matcha chocolate and matcha coconut latte are some of their most popular drinks but I had enough caffeine on the day already. With that in mind, I will be more than happy to settle for a matcha soft serve (550 yen) instead.
Not surprisingly, the green tea flavor was very pronounced.
The earthy, vegetal flavor came with slightly sweet and bitter aftertaste. I love the matcha powder on top for the extra bite.
Now, that's a wrap. Time to head back our hotel(s) and call it the night. One unusual thing about tonight was the fact that I would be going back to a different hotel than the rest of the crew. More on that story here.
