It's been months since I heard about Du Hsiao Yueh (度小月) opening in Ocean Terminal but somehow I didn't really feel motivated to give it a look, until this weekend.
They have the same type of noodle booth they had in their Taipei flagship restaurant at the entrance of the restaurant with a number of chefs preparing different kinds of noodles behind the scene.
I have to admit, the dining area at this Hong Kong outpost is a lot more comfortable (and spacious) than what they have in Taipei. I even had enough room to fit my little nuggets' toys.
Dan Zai noodles (擔仔麵) ($28) and Dan Zai rice noodles (擔仔米粉) ($28) - These tapa-sized noodles were perfect as afternoon snacks. The broth was pretty authentic and we got the feeling like we were actually in Taipei!
Stewed crispy intestine (滷豬大腸) ($48) - I haven't had intestines for ages so this was long overdue. I thought they were pretty tasty. The inner lining was so fatty and rich, which was just perfect!
Deep-fried baby oysters (蚵仔酥) ($68) - Another signature dish here and it certainly didn't disappoint.
Everything tasted exactly the same as they were in Taipei. My only complaint was their shortened food menu which failed to cover even half of their entire repertoire (for example, the dessert section of the menu was entirely missing). That was a little disappointing.
