Another Japanese import has made its way to Harbour City this month. Hattendo (八天堂), who hails from Hiroshima, brings their 80 years of Japanese confectionery making experience to Hong Kong, including their signature cream buns.
Of course, an experienced Japanese confectionery shop like Hattendo has more than a few tricks up their sleeves - soft cream cones, roll cakes...
Different flavors of sundaes and fruit tea.....
And Hattendo French Toast, a house specialty which got me here in the first place.
Hattendo French Toast ($58) - I know this sounds a little weird but I actually thought I was having rice ball (飯糰) having my first bite. The crust was a little crispy but to the extent of local French toast while the "toast" was a lot softer than our typical toast (more like a bun). Pretty interesting.
Milk cream cone ($42) - I don't know what it is that makes Japanese milk so good but whatever it is, it's transferring into some really silky smooth soft serve. Very smooth and full of milky flavors. Not bad.
