Isaac Toast and Coffee would not be easily missed in an area full of hotels (Days Hotel, Le Loisir Hotel Seoul Myeongdong among others) because there's always a big queue lining up in front of its open kitchen.
Like McDonald's extra value meals, Isaac has quite a number of tasty options to choose from but you should always focus on two numbers here - (No.1) Bulgalbi mvp (₩3,200) and (No.2) Bulgogi mvp (₩2,800).
So what's so special about the toasts from Isaac Toast and Coffee that's making it so popular among locals and tourists, you ask? Well, first of all, it's pretty reasonably priced and secondly, it's freshly grilled and made on the spot right in front of you. Of course, it doesn't hurt to have a secret sauce to go with it too.
After a 20-minute wait, I finally got myself two freshly made toasts. Now, I am ready to go back to the hotel to share them with my family.
Bulgalbi mvp (烤排骨吐司) - This is one of the most popular items on the menu and understandably, the most expensive one too. Here we have marinated meat patty, pickled cucumber, shredded cabbage, a fluffy egg omelette and of course, the special BBQ sauce. Not bad but I thought they over-do their seasoning a bit on this one and the spiced patty wasn't all that juicy.
Bulgogi mvp (烤肉吐司) - Surprisingly, the bulgogi mvp tasted a lot better despite looking more or less the same as the bulgalbi mvp. The beef patty was much juicier and even the sauce tasted a little better. I will strongly recommend this over the bulgogi mvp.
Despite the fact that the Isaac Toast and Coffee franchise has already got more than 140 branches worldwide including Macau, it was a memorable experience to grab one in Seoul just to get a taste of this famed Korean street food from where it's originated.
