Known for its colorful toppings and fancy flavors, Éclair By Garuharu burst onto Seoul's dessert scene as Korea's answer to Christophe Adam’s L’Eclair de Génie. This relatively new dessert spot on Gyeongnidan Street opened its door back in 2014 and continued to dazzle locals and tourists with their innovative éclairs.
I love their tastefully sleek décor that easily stands out even among some of the hip boutiques and cafés in the area.
You will find two types of éclairs on display here; firstly the fruity ones (yuzu, orange, coconut & mango etc.).....
....and then there're the macaron éclairs designed by owner-chef Yun Eun-young.
There's also a small corner dedicated to their own brand of drinks.
I decided to grab a mix of different flavors.
I thought the hazelnut praline would be right up my alley as I'm into more nutty flavors but obviously not. Hm...the cream filling was nice and smooth but I didn't like the chocolate flavored choux. The coconut & mango flavor was probably the best of the bunch for its combination of exotic fruity flavors.
This is a very nice neighborhood to sit around and spend a quiet afternoon, especially with a couple of these delicious éclairs in your hand.
