We were just trying to catch our breathe here. After a really amazing lunch at three-Michelins starred Epicure Le Bristol, we rushed over to Pont Alexandre III to catch the Seine River cruise around Paris.
Getting the round trip tickets look like a pretty good bargain considering we could make multiple stops along the way.
Good thing I brought along my tripod so Jelloman and I could take some photos together while we got underway.
As soon as they got things rolling, I slided over to the window seat to get a better picture of the scenery on the river banks.
I have been on a number of river cruises the last few years, from exotic countries like Turkey and Egypt to places like Russia but Paris is always something else, which explains why it's the most popular tourist city in the world (I know it's always No.1 on my list).
We made stops at the Eiffel Tower and then the Notre Dame Cathedral.
After spending some time on Île de la Cité and Île Saint-Louis, the two remaining natural islands in the Seine, it was already getting dark. We knew we're on a very tight schedule since we still needed to catch the cruise back to Pont Alexandre III to complete the round trip. With just 40-50 minutes or so left for dinner, we found a French bistro called Le Campanella at the corner of Avenue Bosquet (which is about 5 minutes walk from the pier) where we settled for a quick supper.
Squid rings - Very nice light batter. Seasoning right on the money. Not bad.
Sauteed frog legs - The frog legs, pan-fried with butter, were served with fettuccine and diced tomato. Jelloman absolutely hates frog legs but I've always been a fan.
Carbonara with egg yolk and pancetta - Nothing beats a hearty carbonara.
The restaurant was having a real busy night (at 1opm!?) so our dishes took a little longer than expected to arrive. So after rushing to finish our dishes, we had to race to the pier to catch the last cruise ship back to Pont Alexandre III. Thankfully, we were able to beat the clock and just made it on board. That pretty much wrapped up a very busy day around Paris. I'm definitely sleeping in tomorrow morning.
Jelloman was pretty sure that Akina Nakamori (中森明菜), an iconic Japanese singer and actress back in the 1980s and 1990s was dining at Le Campanella just a couple of feet away from us. But I was too concentrated with my frog legs so I couldn't confirm.
