Hotel Marceau Champs-Elysées (Paris, FRANCE)

This year, I am having a really weird work schedule. Instead of a very busy April like I always do, everything has been pushed back at least a month. I told Jelloman that perhaps we should go on a short trip in April for a change (in the past, we have never traveled much in April.) but I don't know how that "short trip" snowballed into a 7-day trip to Europe.

We are making Paris our first stop on this European adventure. It's our first trip back since 2008 and Jelloman is really looking forward to her shopping spree here. And for me, I just wanted to check a couple of restaurants, cafes and cake shops off my long list.

In order to maximize our stay in Paris, we decided to have our accommodations near Avenue Champs-Elysées but we didn't want the hustle and bustle of the city's busiest street so we ended up staying a couple of blocks off Champs-Elysées at Hotel Marceau Champs-Elysées.

Hotel Marceau Champs-Elysées is a small 3-star hotel on Avenue Marceau with just 35 rooms. What got it on our radar screen was its convenient location, just a 7-8 minute walk to our favorite Ladur
ée tea salon and less than 5 to brand name shops like Hermé. Not bad!

The room, as you can imagine, is pretty small like most of them in Paris.

Jelloman is so excited about this trip; she can't calm herself down!

For such a small room, they certainly did their part to organize the space so that they've got real estate for everything. Chairs, a small desk and even a proper sized TV. Pretty impressive but my first complaint was the lack of natural light into the room.

Secondly, the bathroom. It was one of the smallest one I had the pleasure to be associated with.

The shower room, directly next to the toilet was almost the same size as the bathroom itself.

I really like the view from our window overlooking Avenue Marceau. It can get pretty busy in the afternoon but at night, it's very very quiet; that means very good sleep (and quiet) for us.

The location of Hotel Marceau Champs-Elysées is what got us interested in the first place. We didn't want to stay right on Champs-Elysées because of all the traffic and night life. This was a few blocks away and mainly just residential buildings with very few restaurants and bars around.

Rue Pierre Charron will lead us to Avenue Champs-Elysées in just 5 minutes.

We got the chance to visit Arc de Triomphe quite a number of times on this trip thanks to Hotel Marceau Champs-Elysées's fabulous location.

As crazy as it may sound, we still have another 4 locations to visit after our 4-night stay here before returning home. Next up, Auxerre, a popular Burgundy town with some of the oldest half-timbered houses in France.
