Tsukanto 豚勝 Elements (Hong Kong, CHINA) ★★☆☆☆

I got pretty sick following my return from Tokyo on 30 Dec. It's been over a week now but I'm still feeling the effects so not surprisingly, this is really my first official dine-out experience in 2024. Since little nugget wanted tonkatsu for lunch this afternoon, I decided to look for one at Elements Shopping Mall and ended up finding Tsukanto (豚勝), a relatively new addition in this spacious mall in West Kowloon.

Little one was tasked with grinding the sesame seeds for our tonkatsu sauce today.

We ordered two sets to share among the three of us. The first set came with this cute-looking udon soup.

The deep-fried pork cutlets came in the usual golden brown color. Not bad.

For the second set, we had the deep-fried pork loin with a tiger prawn.

Look at the size of the prawn here!

We have just returned from Japan so we have a pretty good idea what a delicious tonkatsu looks and tastes like.....and sadly, this is not one of them. It's dry and a little rough. Almost felt like we're biting on some old tires.

A one-and-done on my first dine-out experience in 2024.
