Sweet Tooth Maeda 甘党まえだ Abeno Q's Mall (Osaka, JAPAN) ★★★☆☆

After a pretty hectic day that saw us move from Tokyo to Osaka, everyone just wanted a quiet remainder of the day. Some of us including little nugget continued with their shopping spree in Abeno Q's Mall while your truly decided to find a place to rest his feet.

Located on the third floor of Q's Mall, Sweet Tooth Maeda (甘党まえだ) is a matcha dessert specialist from the guys behind Maeda, the confectionery manufacturing company. I was looking for a refreshing matcha dessert here but found the order placement to be a little bit of an adventure. There was no English menu and the staff speak zero English. Luckily, we managed to work things out.

Matcha parfait 抹茶パフェ (770 yen) – The matcha came in a variation of textures. Apart from the parfait, there were the matcha flavored panna cotta, mochi and sponge nicely paired with red bean paste, chestnut and a sesame chip. It took me a while to finish it all by myself.

I achieved my goal to quench my thirst in a hurry! It looks like Sweet Tooth Maeda (甘党まえだ) is now the only Japanese dessert cafe in Q's Mall. I remembered seeing a Kyoto-style matcha dessert cafe on the ground-floor level during my last visit but it has now turned into a Starbucks.
