PARLOUR Pure cafe and sweets 純喫茶とスイーツ ららぽーと門真店 (Kadoma, JAPAN) ★★★☆☆

We had a delayed start heading to Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport Kadoma this afternoon with Jelloman and little nugget joining us late. But that obviously didn't affect the mood of those who were keen to do some damage to their wallets. A couple of hours of non-stop shopping until someone finally realized that we haven't had our usual afternoon snacks. By the time that happened, it was already dinner time.



There were a number of choices inside the walls of Mitsui Shopping Park but Pure cafe and sweets PARLOUR largo was just too convenient to turn down as it was just a few shops off where we were doing most of our damages (i.e. Adidas, Nike etc.).

PARLOUR is a café/restaurant serving western cuisine or yōshoku (洋食), a style of Western-influenced cooking in Japan. Little nugget kicked things off with an ice-cream float, which I would normally order as well.

But I had this to contend with.

Rich flavored pistachio cream with fresh strawberries, topped nicely with a Japanese custard pudding and more strawberries. 

The size of it was huge and I could hardly take on more food after that.

Mom had the spaghetti carbonara with shrimps that was finished off with a sprinkle of parmesan and fresh pepper. Not bad.

Jelloman and I shared a simple spaghetti dish. The pasta was tossed with a sauce made with mentaiko before they laid the finishing touch on with scrambled eggs and cream sauce. I thought the thick sauce (flavored with mentaiko?) was pretty heavy and when you added the egg on top.....

This guy had the spaghetti Bolognese with guess what, scrambled egg on top and looked like he could finish it all by himself.

A quick recap on our day to the Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport Kadoma. We first took the subway to Kyobashi Station (京橋駅) and then exchanged onto the Keihan Electric Railway (京阪電車). About 8 stations later, we arrived at Kadoma (門真市) and another 10 minutes of walking indoor and outdoor, we finally made it to the outlet park. That wasn't so hard (right?).

The outlet and shopping mall turned out to be less spacious than I first thought. Yes, there were 150-200 labels in the house but other than the international brands on the second floor (mostly sports brands), there wasn't much to see there.

One of the gimmicky (advertising) move by Mitsui was having a miniature version of Kuromon Ichiba Market (黑門市場) as part of their food hall. Unfortunately, I didn't find much to like there.

Little one did his best sitting around waiting for his turn.

And he did eventually have his turn at Namco playing some of his favorite arcade games for a while.

This trip to Kadoma was fun but considering all the hard work getting there, I just wasn't sure if I'd like to be back again. After all, there are still a number of options out there (i.e. Rink Premium Outlets, ATC Town Outlet Mare).
