Following our crab roe lunch at Qianhai HOP World (前海HOP天地), we took a slow and deliberate walk towards our next destination, Uniwalk (壹方城) which is arguably one of the largest shopping malls in Shenzhen. Opened to much fanfare back in 2021, the up-scale shopping and entertainment complex is home to some of the best-known luxury brands in the world.
We walked around the mall for a while before deciding that it was time for a drink.
Then we stumbled upon YI's boutique which was primarily a retail shop for their designer brands but to our pleasant surprise, we discovered this small tea café and dessert bar next to the boutique which was opened by the same fashion brand.
A Japanese-style tatami table, how cool was that!?
Drawn in by the captivating vibe, we decided to sit down for a drink and then some.
Fermented pineapple, coconut, Tie Guanyin tea (¥49) – The combination of fermented pineapple juice and coconut foam was a tried-and-true one which proved to be a very nice match again but I thought those tropical flavors didn't mesh well with the floral notes of Tie Guanyin tea (鐵觀音). Both the textures and flavors weren't all that great.
Green tea, jasmine tea, vanilla (¥49) – The pot plant dessert was really just jasmine tea panna cotta mixing with green tea and vanilla mousse. The green tea was a little too overpowering for the rest of the ingredients.
Rose, raspberry, strawberry (¥49) – By far, the best item from the three that we've tried.
The centre of raspberry and strawberry mousse was topped with thin slices of rose petals and lemon marinated pear, finished off nicely by a homemade syrup made with rose water and raspberry jam. A pretty refreshing dessert that was light and well-balanced between sweetness and acidity.
