Little nugget has another choir performance this weekend and this time around, it's taking place in the heart of the West Kowloon Cultural District (西九文化區). After dropping him off for his rehearsal, Jelloman and I walked back to Elements Shopping Mall looking for a place to chill out for the next hour or two.
I thought it was time to check out Coffee Hwajeon (커피화전), a Korean coffee shop cum café which we have walked past a few times before.
Looked like they were doing a seasonal promotion on cherry blossom dishes.
This is one of the rare moments that Jelloman and I got to spend a weekend afternoon without little one and we are going to enjoy it I think!
Honey fried chicken – We decided not to take our chances on the cherry blossom special. Instead, we went the safe route by getting ourselves some Korean fried chicken. This was no ordinary Korean honey fried chicken though. With the traditional recipe, the fried chicken should be drizzled in gluey honey sauce but not here, not now. Rather than having the honey sauce on top, they threw us a curveball by showering the fried chicken with honey powder. That's pretty slick.
Black sesame latte – Our tea set came with the cafe's signature pan-fried Korean rice cake.
It said "black sesame milk" in the Chinese translation so not surprisingly, it was more on the milky side.
This is definitely not a bad place to spend a lazy afternoon in West Kowloon. Hopefully, I get another crack at this coffee shop fairly soon.
