Attracted by the vibe of the revitalized Central Market (and Wako Sake Sushi), I decided to visit the place again, this time bringing along Jelloman and little nugget with me.
I have recently read some negative comments on Wako Sake Sushi, from food to service but I didn't have any major problems with either today. Reservation was done over the phone and we were offered 3 seats at the sushi bar. Simple as that.
There are other tables behind us, more in a shall-we-say food court setting. Needless to say, we didn't come all the way here just to sit besides some fake plants.
Next to the sushi bar is Wako Sake Bar who's under the same ownership. They boast over 100 different sake labels.
Lunch got off quickly with chawanmushi (茶碗蒸し). This was topped with something like Chinese dried conpoy.
The sushi masters were all working hard behind the sushi counter while we enjoyed our steamed egg custard. And it didn't take long for my sashimi platter to arrive.
There were some good ones here. I always love the richness of Japanese amberjacks.
Look at this fatty melt-in-your-mouth toro!
Here comes our nigiri sushi set.
This was unfortunately not as good as the sashimi set earlier.
Never been a fan of sea bream sushi.
Scallop was quite decent.
Little nugget had some salmon roes sushi just ordered for him.
They almost forgot about our miso soup and they didn't realize it until we asked for the bill.
All in all, a decent meal (though quality not justified by the price tag). I thought the vibe at night where they played the disco music really gave me the jump. But it's more of a family affair on the weekend so understandably, a very different vibe.
