Jelloman wanted Italian today so after a quick breakfast at Mon Kee Cafe (旺記冰室), we decided to venture over to Harbour City to try our luck at Paper Moon. To my surprise, the harbourside restaurant wasn't full like it always was last year.
We even got one of the best seats in the house next to the bar, close to the breathtaking harbour view.
Fettuccine alla Bolognese ($188) - The homemade fettuccine was again pretty eggy but the sauce with the classic Bolognese ragout was a little soupy for my liking.
Pizza Edi ($218) - I remembered Paper Moon as having one of the best wood fired pizza. This was one of their signature pizzas around with pepperoni, tomato, mozzarella, onion and fresh chili pepper toppings.
But it was a little soggy today.
Risotto al frutti di mare ($248) - Easily the best dish of the afternoon. The seafood risotto was pretty soupy, the way I like it to be. And there were lots of seafood there including prawn, baby cuttledish, baby octopus, scallop and mussels. Very nice.
I skipped dessert at Paper Moon intentionally so I could leave enough stomach space for some dessert at the newly opened Super Sweets Gallery.
Located inside City Super, Super Sweets Gallery is a brand new concept spearheaded by Hironobu Tsujiguchi (辻口博啟), an award-winning pâtissier and chocolatier who represented Japan on a number of occasions in the international stage. He's best known for his Mont St Clair concept in Tokyo and Seoul. I had the chance to try both of them recently and can honestly say, their cakes were very very good.
Back to Paper Moon for a moment, I thought we have all witnessed a steady decline in quality since they first opened doors a couple of years ago. I don't exactly know the root cause but it seems to happen to a lot of these eateries in Hong Kong. Wheels always seem to fall off after the first year (in Paper Moon's case, just the screws were off but the wheels were still there!).
