The revolving door of Pacific Place's restaurant scene spins again with Lai Sun Group replacing Operetta with Sun's Bazaar, a casual food concept featuring pan-Asian comfort food and bubble tea.
$148 is definitely not a small price to pay for congee, noodle and fried rice but at Pacific Place, nothing comes cheap anyways.
I have never been a big fan of Taiwanese bubble tea so cold soy milk suited me right fine.
Pan-fried flat rice noodles, pork ribs, black bean sauce - This was reasonably good. The "wok hei" (鑊氣) could have been better and same goes for the presentation. But the flat rice noodles were actually not bad.
Steamed plain rice rolls - My server told me it's one of their signature items around here. These were really silky smooth. On top of the soy and peanut butter sauce which have been added, there were hoisun sauce, chili paste and a side dish of minced meat served on the side. Personally, I found the minced meat particularly interesting. It's primarily minced pork but there were also goodies like sakura shrimp (also finely diced) and some root vegetables in there adding to the flavors (and textures).
Japanese matcha terrine - In a weird twist and turn, they went Japanese with their daily dessert (why not Chinese all the way?). It tasted almost like a pudding.
Sun's Bazaar opens daily from 11am to 9pm.
