I got everything sorted out a couple of weeks ago. Since the metro wasn’t going to be an option, we’re taking the bus to Kinkakuji (金閣寺) and making a quick stop at Volks (フォルクス) just a few blocks away for lunch.
Volks is a popular casual Japanese family restaurant chain famous for its affordable sirloin steaks, hamburgers, and its all-you-can-eat salad bar.
First, we are treating ourselves to the unlimited supply of garden greens.
It didn’t take long for the food to arrive. The signature tender aged sirloin steak is a must here, served on an old-school metal plate.
Another fan favorite is the Volkshamburger steak. We found a reasonably priced set that actually included the hamburger steak, a chicken fillet, and a deep-fried pork cutlet.
By the end, we were completely stuffed but luckily we still had to walk it off, since Kinkakuji was at least a 10-minute walk away.
