It’s our first trip to Osaka, and I won’t say we started off on the right foot. After arriving via a red-eye flight, we hit the ground running in the city centre just before dusk.
We thought our check-in at Ramada Hotel Osaka would be smooth but it wasn’t. Our attempt was rejected immediately, and it wasn’t because our room wasn’t available. Instead, we were asked to pay a king’s ransom for just a few hours of sleep (early check-in).
Would we rather sleep in the hotel lobby? No, because we had an important lunch waiting for us, so we ended up paying the ultimate price.
As expected, the room was small: two standard single beds and just enough space for our luggage to open.
The one small comfort was that our room wasn’t facing the main road, so the noise level was totally acceptable.
One of the few bright spots about our stay was the hotel’s proximity to Nakatsu Station (中津駅). That said, since it’s in the middle of a commercial district, there wasn’t much nearby to choose from.
All in all, the hotel has seen better days so I think it’s time for its retirement party soon.
