Visiting MGM Macau wasn't part of our agenda on this trip but since it was the drop-off point of our complimentary shuttle bus, we decided to take a quick look before going to our final destination.
We walked around the hotel taking a few pictures of the lobby before running into Pastry Bar (甜點) at the corner of the lobby.
Pastry Bar boasts a wide selection of French pastries, macarons and chocolates designed by Executive Pastry Chef Holger Deh.
We haven't had much to eat this morning so we ended up sitting down at their spacious dine-in area to enjoy a couple of pastries.
White chocolate lime mousse cake – Sometimes refreshing to start (we thought).
Hidden underneath the white chocolate crust was delicate lime mousse with a mango compote centre so not surprisingly, it came with a fair amount of acidity. The elements for a nice refreshing pastry was certainly there but unfortunately, there was not enough balance of acidity and sweetness there. The chocolate crust was also a little on the hard side. Hm...
Mint and green tea cake – Another refreshing pastry but hopefully this one came with a little more sweetness to back the acidity up.
The minty mousse meshed well with the hibiscus flower and raspberry jelly in the middle but less so with the green tea sponge base. The overall texture was much better than the lime mouse cake. I like this one a little more.
