After checking into our hotel, we kicked off our journey with a late lunch at one of my favorite restaurants in Myeongdong - Yoogane.
This is good old hearty Korean food at its best. There are two types of dishes that should not be missed here - their kimchibokkeumbap (kimchi fried rice) and dak galbi which is actually stir-fried marinated chicken, sliced cabbage and other ingredients on a super hot plate.
I started things off with their marinated bulgogi and kimchi fried rice (₩6,000). The waitress first put some marinated chicken, green onion and spring onion onto the pre-heated frying pan.
After another 5 minutes or so, she came back and put in the rice. Started stirring all the ingredients left and right. This was ohhhh so good. Lots of bite and very flavorful.
We were a little hesitant to order their Korean style seafood pancake (₩15,000) at first. After all, this is a dak galbi place but they proved to be more than a one-trick pony. I thought the pancake was very good. The batter was flavorful and the pancake very crispy.
I've always enjoyed dining at Yoogane. Everybody here speaks very good English and they always have a smile on their face (well, most of them do). Of course, having an English menu and very reasonable prices are also bonus for tourists like us.
