The first cake shop we visited on this trip was Edelweiss Okinawa. Newly opened just two weeks ago, Edelweiss is a western style cake shop with a Japanese twist. The fact that it's only a comfortable 5-minute walk from the Kenchomae monorail station made it the ideal spot to drop by before dinner.

Edelweiss Okinawa is situated on the ground floor of a commercial building. We quickly realized that it is a cake shop and chocolatier housed under the same roof.

Inside the shop is a little café where you can grab a cup of coffee to go along with their signature cakes.

Perhaps it was getting a little close to their closing time (7:00pm) so there weren't much to choose from.

I went with their Opéra cake (¥420) which was decent but could have used a bit more cognac or brandy to spice things up.

Cream cake with Okinawan beni-imo (purple sweet potato) is obviously another popular choice around here (¥400). That marked our first experience of the Okinawan purple sweet potato on this trip!
