Our first stop was the Teatro Greco or ancient theatre of Taormina which is an ancient Greek theatre built in the seventh century BC. With the clear skies, we could almost see Mount Etna deep in the background here.
Teatro Greco is one of the most stunning ancient monuments in all of Sicily. I heard it looks even more spectacular at night.
We managed to visit most of the tourist attractions in Taormina before noon time. Time for a quick lunch.
Just when we spotted Terrazza Angelo, a Japanese tour group was just finishing up their early lunch and leaving the restaurant.
We were immediately led into this cozy dining area. Apart from the wonderful ambiance, we found another prize here - free wifi!
First up, a calamari or deep fried squid rings to get things rolling.
Our main courses took a long time to arrive. I had the spaghetti carbonara which was not bad.
Another dish we had was the risotto with mussels and cream sauce.
We didn't expect a fine dining experience. It was more of a "pit stop" where we refilled our tank before moving onto the next destination. But what I liked about Terrazza Angelo was the vibe - it felt like being invited into someone's house to enjoy a home-cooked Italian meal.
