With all the major constructions going on in the highway, our GPS had trouble locating the correct route and ended up sending us in circles. Luckily we were able to make it to Villa Athena in the dark before our car ran out of gas.

Villa Athena is a wonderful 5-star hotel located in the middle of the Valley of the Temples. Our room offered a great view of the Temple of Concordia at night.
We haven't had much to eat all day. Instead of heading out, we decided to take a quick bite at La Terrazza Degli Dei which was located in a separate building from the hotel.
Here we found a little bit of ancient history - an ancient Greek cistern through the glass floor.
Agrigento is well known for its archaeological sites but it has a lot to offer from a culinary perspective as well.
Dinner started off perfectly with a traditional recipe highlighted by a Sicilian twist - risotto with scampi, shrimp and mandarin sauce. That Sicilian mandarin fragrance was so irresistible.
The grilled octopus and shrimp in almond crust was another delightful dish. The chef did well to serve them on a potato velvet with a lovely cuttlefish black ink sauce.
