Gondolen (Stockholm, SWEDEN) ★★☆☆☆

Suspended high above Katarinahissen (English: The Katarina Lift), one of the oldest elevators in the world, Gondolen remains one of the most intriguing dining options in Stockholm with a stunning view of the neighbouring Gamla Stan and harbour. The restaurant features a large dining room serving Swedish and French cuisine as well as a popular cocktail bar.

We took an elevator up to Gondolen's dining room and I swear, that was the smallest elevator I have seen in the world. It could barely fit 2 people.

The view was incredible. The Gamla Stan and harbour could be seen all at one glance.

And the cocktail bar was almost full by 8:30pm.

I was a little disappointed with the service right off get go. The waiting staff didn't look particularly interested in serving us.

Our first dish was a half lobster with toast, horseradish, mayonnaise and lemon. It was cold and bland. This was probably the first time I failed a lobster dish (2.5/10).

Slightly more attractive was the next course - pan seared scallops with a little garden green and cream (4.5/10).

Our main courses didn't fair much better than the starters. My grilled beef tenderloin was rough as any tire (2/10).

We also didn't finish our second main course which was a roasted duck breast served with risotto. I think our flight meal tasted better than these (2/10).

I hate to label it as a 'tourist trap" but apart from the view, I couldn't find anything interesting here at all.
