After dinner, the gang decided that we should enjoy something sweet before calling it the night. To our pleasant surprise, there were a couple of dessert shops near our dinner venue (Tai Wai Sun Hop Fat 新合發海鮮飯店) so we didn't have to walk very far for our sweet treat.
Master Fu Dessert (傅師傅甜品小食) is a popular spot in Tai Wai, known for its mix of Cantonese and Western-style sweets. It was rumored that the owner-chef (Master Fu?) used to work as an executive pastry chef at a local hotel, and you could tell he’d worked hard to build a dessert menu featuring both classic Hong Kong favorites and Western indulgences like the chocolate Lava Cake (心太軟).
I was still a little full from dinner so I went with something simple — black sesame soup (黑芝麻糊).
This looked thick enough but what it lacked was a deeper, more pronounced sesame flavor
along with that perfectly velvety, silky-smooth, richly creamy texture I was hoping for.
And that wrapped up our long-overdue gathering. Time to head home and crash as I’ve got a morning meeting early.
