I’m just finishing up my blog post on the top Basque cheesecakes in town. After a quick lunch with mom in Mong Kok, I decided to cross the harbor for a taste of another slice of the city’s beloved burnt cheesecake.
JOMO (“Joy Of Missing Out”) in Wan Chai is known for its signature Basque burnt cheesecake featuring a smooth, almost custardy core and a caramelized, bittersweet outer crust. The idea here is to balance the rich, velvety texture with creaminess and that perfect melt-in-your-mouth finish.
I thought the cake was rich and deeply aromatic without being overly sweet, and there’s also just enough acidity along with the bittersweet crust to keep everything nicely balanced.
I also liked the size. It’s slightly smaller than a typical cheesecake, so I didn’t have to “walk it off” the way I usually do!
