I was going to battle through my sickness this week without taking a day off, but after consultation with my family doctor, I was asked — more like ordered — to get some rest away from work. After waking up late, I worked remotely for a couple of hours, and then fell asleep again in the morning. When I finally woke up again in the late afternoon, it was almost 3pm. Time for a late lunch.
While congee sounded like a good idea, I was also longing for a nice bowl of pasta. So I made the long and slow walk to Contrast, a neighborhood coffee shop and café in Cheung Sha Wan that serves home-brewed coffee, all-day breakfast, and more in a friendly, easygoing vibe.
This place must be a popular hangout spot for locals, because it was still bustling in the late afternoon on a Wednesday. As a result, I had to patiently wait for a table to open up.
Squid-ink linguini with squid and crab roes — the squid-ink linguini was nicely tossed in a thick and flavorful squid-ink sauce, topped with squid and crab roes, and finished with a shaving of Parmesan.
I could totally see why the café has been so popular since opening in 2020. Even though the food menu is pretty small, everything seemed meticulously prepared. We’ve tried their Basque cheesecake before, and this time, a simple pasta — delivered spot on. It’s definitely worth a return visit.
