Little nugget said he didn't want any dessert at lunch so we quickly settled the bill and as planned, started our slow and deliberate walk to the ferry terminal. There was just one thing standing between us, a quick visit to Vive Cake Boutique on the ground floor of H Queen's. Since I haven't been there for ages and little one had never been there before, I thought why not take him there for a quick look prior to our trip to Star Ferry Terminal.
What I didn't expect was that the "quick look" turned into a 20-minute stop for sweet treats (for both of us).
For a young kid of his age, he sure knows how to appreciate his sweet treats especially his cakes (And it's not the ones from Maxim's or Saint Honore's that he's after LOL 😏).
Mini-Cone ($58) - If look could kill.....my son wants this cake badly. It's one of those "love at first sight" kind of thing.

Vanilla sponge and a bit of white chocolate mousse. It's simple but gets the job done for him.
Berry Jolly ($58) - Old dad wanted something refreshing and he's going back to something he's familiar with.
This was primarily mascarpone mousse, with some soft vanilla sponge on the bottom, backed up by some lovely acidity from the strawberry jelly. The proportion of the three could have been more balanced but the mascarpone mousse was very delicate.
Running a pastry shop in Hong Kong has always been a tough business. We've seen it with some of the best home-grown pastry shops in town coming and going in recent years (Just to name a few: J'aime Bien Patisserie, Meltyplace, and Thomas Trillion, which is closing in August 2021). Would we be left with just the international brands (Lady M?) and hotels' pastry corners one day? I hope not. So folks, let's come out and support our local dessert shops.
