For us, early April has been all about visiting places we've not visited for a while. After checking the Hong Kong Disney Resort off the list 4 days ago, today we're spending a quiet afternoon in Sham Cheng (深井) with our little one.
Sham Cheng and roast goose have been linked together more than decades ago so we knew exactly where we're heading for lunch this afternoon - one of the roast goose restaurants. I ended up picking Yue Kee Restaurant (裕記大飯店) despite the fact that they've just opened a branch in the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui making their famous roasted goose much more accessible to the general public these days.
Roast goose (Half bird, $280) - That's a brainer for us. This was very meaty and well marinated. The skin also perfectly crispy. I like to eat it without the plum sauce. That way, I can really taste the natural flavors of the goose. Succulent!
Deep-fried squid ($105) - Another one of my personal favorite! The thin batter was perfect and unlike a lot of places where the squid was rubbery like an eraser, this was tender and not a bit chewy at all.
After some rice and vegetables (forgot to take pictures, oops!), time to start our hiking tour...
