After spending a good 3 hours at Inspiration Lake soaking up the sun, we slowly walked over to Explorers Lodge which we were told it's 1,100 meters. But let's make it crystal clear okay. It's not 1,100 meters I swear. Especially when I was pushing my little one along in his baby stroller, it felt more like 3km at least.
Since we were starving a bit, I thought it would be a great idea to have an afternoon dessert buffet at World of Color Restaurant (芊彩餐廳).
The dessert buffet which runs from 3:30pm to 5pm, would set us back $178 per person. Not a bad price to pay.
I'm sure kids would absolutely love this buffet with the all-you-can-eat mini-cakes, fruit and sweets. But for adults, there were far fewer things we would appreciate. The Portuguese egg tarts were probably the best they could offer and they were very very good.
For savory items, just a handful of options including some salami, flatbread and salmon fillet.
The mini-cakes were supposed to be the highlight here but they were not. The chocolate, strawberry mousse and chocolate brownie were all pretty disappointing. Only the lemon tart and opera cake made the cut.
Tiramisu, meh!
After the largely forgettable dessert buffet, we spent more time checking out Explorers Lodge, including a recreation area at the back of the hotel.
The best part about it, well you don't have to be a hotel guest to enjoy this area, which includes a large playground all covered with grass.
It's a lovely place to spend quality time with my nugget, that's for sure.
