I hate eating out on Sunday afternoons these days because everybody is doing nothing but Sunday brunch. From fine dining restaurants (Tosca), to steakhouses and casual eateries, everyone is in this all together. It's giving the light eating bunch, like myself, a very hard time.
It's been a while since I last visited BLT Steak at Harbour City and what it didn't realize was the fact that they're doing Sunday brunch as well. Thankfully, the a la carte menu is also available and we were able to find something we liked there.
Soy-wasabi ahi tuna tartare ($228) - The smashed sweet peas and avocado purée provided plenty of sweetness for the tuna tartare. That was pretty tasty. The only thing I didn't like about this dish was the crispy shallots.
Crab cake ($172) - A bit of a peculiar look for a crab cake. As a purist, I've always enjoyed the traditional American style crab cakes a little more so this contemporary version with quite a bit of potato rather than crab meat certainly didn't win me over. The smoked piquillo paprika aioli was fairly nice though.
7 peppercorn, Black Angus burger ($158) - There were only a handful of main courses available so I had no choice but took a flyer on their Black Angus burger. I thought it was just average, the beef patty, in particular, could have been a little more juicy.
Everyone seemed to enjoy the shoestring fries more.
Roasted free range chicken ($188) - Pretty tender and flavorful although the preserved lemon rosemary stuffing made it more acidic than it should be.
I would have really liked to sit on the terrace for the view if it wasn't so hot out there.
