Ladurée Le Bar Champs Elysées (Paris, FRANCE) ★★★★☆

We didn't have much of a New Year's Eve celebration last night. Little nugget crashed early (he must be super tired) and we followed suit not long after. Everyone seemed to have enjoyed a good night of sleep except yours truly. I didn't sleep well knowing that it's our last night in my favorite city of the world.

We got a lot of packing to do in the morning and by the time we finished checking out, it was almost 1pm. With an open heart and empty stomach, we rushed out to Ladurée on Champs Elysées hoping for a quick lunch there one last time but it looked like many people shared the same lunch plan with us.

It was virtually impossible to get in and little one was getting hungry, so what else can we do? Suddenly, Ladurée Le Bar, the cocktail bar in the same premise but with a different entrance came to mind.

Not many people seem to know about this but Ladurée Le Bar is more than just a cocktail bar. In fact, it offers a fairly extensive food menu, on top of Ladurée's signature pastries and beverages.

I was able to find ourselves three seats at the counter table with zero waiting time. That's the key, zero waiting time.

Ladurée's signature hot chocolate to kick things off for me while I waited for Jelloman and our little one to go around the corner and get in.

Roasted pumpkin with quinoa salad – A healthy start to 2018 for us. The roasted pumpkin was a little crunchy outside but soft in the middle. It was served with a pool of crème fraîche on the side.

Sea bream tartare with radish – The sea bream tartare topped with two types of radish and crispy croutons, was matched nicely with some acidity from a mildly flavored vinaigrette while the chives added some earthy notes to the raw fish.

Sous-vide salmon fillet with broccoli – A very Chinese dish for little nugget. He probably won't have much to eat until we arrive at the airport later this evening.

French lobster with butter puff ring – This was beautiful and the fact that the flaky butter puff ring ran out of room for those succulent lobster meat, what a sight to behold.

This meal ended up taking a lot longer to finish than we first expected but with a lot of shops closed on New Year's day, we were really not in a rush to go out and explore the city before departing for
Charles de Gaulle Airport. We were content with chilling out here in our remaining hours of this long road trip that started in Dubai 10 days ago. And what we once feared about little one going on a long flight with us, we could now throw it out the window!
