Well, this is supposed to be the highlight of my night, a trip to Sham Shui Po to visit one of the oldest cha chaan tengs (Hong Kong style tea restaurants) in town. Sun Heung Yuen (新香園), which is about a 5-minute walk from the MTR station, will be my dinner destination tonight.
Anyone who knows a little something about cha chaan tengs, should know this place by heart because they're best known for their killer scrambled egg and beef sandwich (蛋牛三文治烘底).
I have seen a lot of amazing pictures of this famed sandwich on Instagram before. Their scrambled eggs were really fluffy and moist like a pillow but mine certainly looked a little different (and a little burnt).
In fact, this looked and tasted more like an omelette which isn't what I was expecting at all.
Did I come at a bad time when their usual chef has gone off duty?
Note: Sun Heung Yuen opens 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
