SEASON has two branches in Taipei and this one is their flagship store combining their elegant cake shop and casual-dining café under one roof.
Apart from their exquisite French pastries, diners can also enjoy their comfort food (ranging from burgers, fries, salad to risotto, pasta and steaks) here at the same time.
Of course their bread and butter is still their sweet stuff. Their signature creation is the one in the front called Garden of Senses (感官花園) which is a combination of joconde cake, mixed berries and violet cassis mousse.
They've also got a pretty good lineup of macarons as well including some with a Taiwanese twist - pearl milk tea and caramel pineapple cake.
I know I have got to try their pearl milk tea macaron. This was OK but the flavors were not reminiscent of the Taiwanese pearl milk tea at all. In fact, it tasted a lot more like almond.
Peach fruit tea is their most popular flavor and I could definitely relate to that. There's a very good mix of fruity (peach) and earthy (tea) flavors in there and the peach jam in the middle was spot on. Very nice.
Of course, I won't be leaving SEASON without getting one of their pastries but I didn't go with their signature "Garden of Senses". Instead, it was their Mont blanc getting the call.
This was pretty good. The chestnut cream vermicelli combined so well with the meringue and little bit of sponge cake in the middle.
Judging from their products, I can certainly see the passion burning inside their pastry chefs. This is a place that is most definitely worthy of a visit.
