Chum Chum Mi (Hong Kong, CHINA) ★★★☆☆

For years, I have been searching for the perfect authentic Korean cuisine locally in Hong Kong. That would really help my wallet since I don't have to make the annual trip to visit my favorite Korean barbecue house, Hwaroyeon in Seoul.

Finally my hard work seemed to pay off this weekend after discovering Chum Chum Mi at the little known FHP Shopping Centre in Tsim Sha Tsui.

Looking at the setting, we had a feeling of actually being somewhere in Myeongdong. That's a perfect Korean barbecue style setting with K-pop music in the background. We couldn't ask for more.

As usual, a set of side dishes (banchan) including kimchi, cucumber etc. kicked things off.

The menu has a mix of traditional Korean dishes one would expect from a barbecue house as well as other modern creations.

But first a bottle of import beer from Korea - Cass. That's perfect!

Between the grilled beef ribs and ox tongues, I thought their ox tongues were so much better.

Grilled abalones with cheese were prepared by the kitchen and there's still room for improvement especially with that cheese.

Lastly, a nice big bowl of kimchi fried rice to wrap up our dinner. If you like kimchi, this one is for you~

It would have been perfect if they elected to use charcoal grill here. Korean barbecue is not the same without it.
