10 of The Best Milkshakes in Hong Kong

My obsession for old-fashioned milkshakes goes way back when I was still a kid living in Canada. In Hong Kong, there're unfortunately very few places that offer a rich and frosty milkshake. But not to worry if you happen to be looking for a gourmet milkshake in the city, coz here's my top 10 list to save you time and energy.

[For a more updated look at the Best Milkshakes in Hong Kong, please click here.]

1) BLT Burger
The mother of all American burger joints in Hong Kong, BLT Burger offers a wide range of milkshakes including some spiked version. Some of the all-time favorites include their PBJ (Vanilla ice-cream, peanut butter and grape jelly) and Rocky Road (chocolate ice-cream, chocolate brownie and almonds) and they are as devilish as it gets.

A recent review of my meal at BLT Burger can be found here.

Address: Shop OT301-301A, 3/F, Harbour City, 17 Canton Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong

2) Burger Circus
Another classic American diner featuring freshly ground burgers, fries, all-American sandwiches and they are nicely complemented by their old-fashioned milkshakes (chocolate, strawberry and vanilla only) served elegantly in a tall milkshake glass with a cherry top.

A recent review of my meal at Burger Circus can be found here.

Address: G/F, 22 Hollywood Road, Central, Hong Kong

3) Double D Burger
One of my latest favorite place for burgers and milkshakes in town. The setting looks a little too casual even for a burger joint but they have arguably the best salted caramel shake in the city.

Address: G/F, 22 Wellington Street, Central, Hong Kong
Tel: +852 2881-1888

4) Main St. Deli
For the most exclusive selection of milkshakes in Hong Kong, look no further than Main Street Deli (Langham Hotel), an old New York style deli and first of its kind in the city. Their milkshakes range from the all-time classics (vanilla, chocolate and strawberry) to some of the more exotic flavors (pina colada cupcake, nutella banana, cookies and cream etc.). They all come in an old-school stainless steel malt cup and are as creamy, thick and fudgy as they get around here.

Address: Lower Lobby Level, The Langham Hong Kong, 8 Peking Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong

5) The Pudding Nouveau
An unlikely place for a fulfilling milkshake but The Pudding Nouveau offers so much more than just waffles and desserts. Their milkshakes are some of the richest (and heaviest) ever with multiple scoops of homemade ice-cream. Check them out if you plan on a trip to Tai Hang.

Address: G/F, 17A King Street, Tai Hang, Hong Kong
Tel: +852 3585-7325

6) Chips Republic Café
Chips Republic Café prides themselves as specialist of chips, gourmet burgers, fish n chips and handmade milkshakes (Yes!). They have the second most impressive lineup of milkshakes in town, only second to Main Street Deli. Some of their naughtiest flavors include mint chocolate, green tea, caramel and Bailey's VC.

A recent review of my meal at Chips Republic Cafe can be found here.

Address: Shop 2132, 2/F, Elements, 1 Austin Road West, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong
Tel: +852 2581-1887

7) Holy Chef
Holy Chef is a bit of an off-the-chart choice but their oreo lover milkshake and black beer milkshake are guarantees to knock your socks off. It's a 10-15 minute walk from the MTR station but trust me, it's well worth the trouble.

A recent review of my meal at Holy Chef can be found here.

Address: Shop 12, G/F Cheung Fai Building, 401-405 Po On Road, Cheung Sha Wan, Kowloon, Hong Kong

8) HeSheEat
HeSheEat is best known for their molten chocolate lava cakes and waffles but the truth is, they've also got a pretty good collection of homemade shakes which includes the always popular matcha and chestnut flavors (The chestnut shake is really really rich and heavy so be warned!).

A recent review of my meal at HeSheEat can be found here.

Address: Shop 4, G/F, Ngai Hing Mansion, 22 Pak Po Street, Mongkok, Hong Kong
Tel: +852 5571-3056

9) Beef & Liberty
Making it to the Michelin Guide a couple of years in a roll, Beef & Liberty is another burger joint equipped with tasty gourmet burgers and old-fashioned milkshakes. For those of you who hate the thick and fudgy types of shakes, Beef & Liberty has the perfect solution for you as theirs tend to be a little more foamy.

A recent review of my meal at Beef & Liberty can be found here.

Address: 23 Wing Fung Street, Wanchai, Hong Kong

10) Triple-O's
Of course I had to squeeze Triple O into my top 10 list because the brand comes from Vancouver, British Columbia! They've recently added a mint flavored milkshake to the mix on top of the usual suspects of chocolate, vanilla, strawberry and blueberry flavors. Perfect to go with my favorite mushroom and bacon burger (as shown in the photo below).

Address: Shop G004, G/F, Elements, 1 Austin Road West, Kowloon, Hong Kong
