Vatos Urban Tacos (Seoul, SOUTH KOREA) ★★★☆☆

Opened by a few Korean Americans from Los Angeles, Vatos Urban Tacos is quickly becoming one of the most popular urban eateries among the younger generation of Seoul.

This wildly popular restaurant is located in the heart of the Sinsa shopping area and it promises a Mexican street food experience with a modern Korean twist.

The place was quite easy to find. It's inside one of the shopping buildings on the third floor. (There's a Giordano on the ground floor I think.)

This was nothing like a restaurant at all. The electrifying atmosphere had us thinking that we were inside a pub having a party! I particularly enjoyed the industrial twist of the interior design.

I wasn't in the mood for alcohol this early so I ended up having this gigantic jar of thirst-quenching Sweet Georgia peach iced tea.

This meal was really a no-brainer for us. We were going all out for their signature dishes starting first with this made-to-order kimchi carnitas fries. Seasoned french fries was nicely complemented with braised pork carnitas, sautéed kimchi, melted cheese and topped with sour cream, Vatos sauce, cilantro and onions. That was very good!

Equally as good was another house specialty - honey tequila chicken wings. Chicken wings were nicely coated in a special sweet & spicy honey tequila sauce and served with deep-fried jalapenos and blue cheese dipping sauce.

Six pieces were not nearly enough for the two of us!

They have 4-5 different types of quesadillas on the menu with the mango prawn quesadilla rumored to be the best one. But we decided to take the Carne asada steak quesadilla based on our server's recommendation.

I thought it was a little dry.

This is a must-do in Seoul, simple as that.
