Starfish Bloo (Bali, INDONESIA) ★★★☆☆

Starfish Bloo is one of the two restaurants in Bali's W Hotel Retreat and Spa. It serves as a breakfast hall for hotel guests in the morning and turns into a casual dining restaurant that serves Pan Asian cuisine in the afternoon and at night.

Calling the shots at Starfish Bloo is Mauritian born Chef Kevin Chung. Chef Chung who was raised in Australia, has compiled 13 years' experience including stint at Sydney's Rockpool.

Not only does this signature restaurant offers a wonderful cuisine, it also provides front row seats to the Seminyak beach!

It's a bit early for alcohol so we started with a couple of smoothies to cool ourselves off.

Hamachi sashimi, fresh and full of flavor. That's a perfect start (5.5/10).

Less impressive was this tuna roll with avocado (3.5/10).

Our main course was the Australian marbled beef served with a hot stone (5/10).

It looks like that "pork belly bun" fever has not only hit Hong Kong (Bao Wow, Little Bao Bao, Comfort by Harlan's etc), it's everywhere!

But that was a disappointing dish (3/10).

Finally some veggies to wrap up this meal.

Our lunch was a combination of impeccable service and decent food. But like the hotel's Woo Bar, Starfish Bloo is more than a beach-side restaurant/bar, it's a place to see and be seen. That alone makes this restaurant a must-see in your Bali itinerary.
