Tuxedo Café and Patisserie (Singapore, SINGAPORE) ★★★☆☆

For a city known for its culinary excellence, I was a little surprised with the few options available when it comes to upscale pâtisseries in the heart of the city. Luckily we managed to find Tuxedo Cafe & Patisserie.

Located on the ground floor of the Carlton Hotel Singapore and just across the street from the Chijmes, Tuxedo is the perfect place to chill and enjoy a cup of coffee. And if you are in the mood, perhaps a little pastry.

Apart from coffee and cake, Tuxedo also offers a fairly attractive express set lunch special from 11am daily, which includes soup or salad, sandwich and a cup of gourmet coffee or tea of your choice.

But after our lunch at Gunther's, we were really too stuffed for another sandwich so we decided to have a piece of cake instead.

From what we've seen, all the pastries here were nicely presented but unfortunately not a great deal of choice.

We decided to go for the Caribbean rum surprise cake. From the yellowish exterior, we knew it was either mango or passion fruit but there was no sign of any Caribbean rum.

From a corner in the hotel lobby, we could find the award-winning Carlton pastry team working hard behind the scene on different wedding cakes. Wow, these are huge!!!
