Tei Mou Koon Dessert 地茂館甜品 (Hong Kong, CHINA) ★★★★☆

We have a hotpot gathering at our friend's house tonight. Midway through the meal, the dads decided to go out and get some fresh air (obviously under a lot of stress) and we ended up sitting down at the ever-popular Tei Mou Koon Dessert (地茂館甜品) for dessert.

This place is always buzzing with customers in the evening, and it’s easy to see why. Their silky almond tea, rich black sesame soup, and other traditional desserts are consistently top-notch...

Almond tea with egg white (招牌蛋白杏仁茶) – Their signature almond tea with egg white was a no-brainer.

Just look at that generous layer of silky egg white settling at the bottom — light, smooth, and perfectly matched with the warm, aromatic almond tea. The combination was comforting, nostalgic, and just what I needed.

The stress therapy session for the dads seemed to have done the trick. Now time to head back into the chaos.

Very Good Luck Fast Food Shop 好好運快餐店 (Hong Kong, CHINA) ★★★★☆

I have heard about this place for some time now, a canteen-style cha chaan teng in the industrial side of Lai Chi Kok just a short stroll from the MTR station. My friends told me they have got a killer instant noodle with satay beef (沙爹牛肉麵) and I am eager to find out whether it's good as people said. 

Situated on the ground floor of The Globe, Very Good Luck Fast Food Shop (好好運快餐店) is one of the most popular breakfast spots in the area. Even on a lazy Saturday morning, the small queue outside told us everything we needed to know — this place is the real deal.

Iced milk tea (凍奶茶) – Strong, robust tea with just the right amount of sweetness. The kind that jolts you awake after a week of late nights.

Instant noodles with satay beef (沙爹牛肉麵) – This was what we came here for!

The key was the rich and savory broth with layers of sweetness and spice. The satay beef was tender, generously portioned, and well seasoned, soaking up all the bold, nutty flavor of the broth. And the noodles? Springy and satisfying, clinging onto the broth nicely.

Corn beef and scrambled egg sandwich (鹹牛肉蛋治) – Obviously, anything with beef in it was a popular item here. Fluffy scrambled eggs paired with salty corned beef between soft, toasted slices of bread. Not bad.

Friendly staff, quick service, and food that punches way above its weight. Very Good Luck isn’t just another local breakfast joint. It’s a comfort food haven that delivers on all fronts. That satay beef noodle soup alone is worth hopping off the MTR for.

Liz & Tori (Hong Kong, CHINA) ★★★★☆

Little nugget missed out on the chance for an ice-cream when we were having one at Snack Baby Gelato & Drinks earlier. As we were walking out of Kau U Fong (九如坊) after dinner, I told him if he's still interested in having one, we could have it at Liz & Tori right across from the street.

Liz & Tori is an artisanal gelateria by none other than Michelin-starred chef Vicky Cheng, of VEA and Wing fame. It shares the same space as his more casual concept, Medora.

A new watermelon flavor had just launched—light, refreshing, and pretty much made for a hot summer night like tonight.

To my surprise, he went with something very simple – Forever Young Coconut. I was joking with him that for something that simple, he could have gotten one made by Dairy Farm (牛奶公司)!
