Red Leaf Cafe Sham Shui Po 紅葉餐室 深水埗店 (Hong Kong, CHINA) ★★☆☆☆

I had a very good night of sleep after watching my beloved Ipswich FC beat Huddersfield to clinch automatic promotion to the Premiership next season. Since I have promised myself that I start doing some light exercise this weekend, I decided to stay course with my scheduled routine in the morning.

It wasn't as easy as I thought it was. After not having any form of exercise for nearly six months, I had to get my legs going again and it was a tough start although things got a bit easier after the first 15 minutes. Afterwards, I jogged to the nearby Red Leaf Cafe (紅葉餐室) for a late breakfast.

It didn't take long for my breakfast set to arrive.

Of course, I had to begin with my iced milk tea. The richness from the tea caught me a little by surprise. It was strong but there wasn't sufficient milk there for the right balance. It wasn't bad but a little more milk would make me a happy camper.

The cha chaan teng classic of instant noodles served with satay beef was next. The noodles itself were fine but the beef was pretty rubbery. This immediately reminded me of my experience at Sun Wah Cafe (新華茶餐廳) a couple months ago. You don't get succulent beef from a cha chaan teng very often and that really made a difference there.

The fried egg was a little overcooked but the sausage and butter toast were both OK. If I wanted to be picky, there was a bit too much butter on the toast (sometimes less is more) but I wasn't really expecting much at this point in time.

I am really happy to get this exercise thing back to track this weekend. Hopefully, I am persistent enough to continue the routine next weekend.

Ipswich FC is returning to the top flight after 22 years!!!

These were moments where I thought this would never happen in my lifetime but my beloved Ipswich Town FC is going back to the Premiership this August after 22 years of hiatus. There were some long and painful nights watching different versions of the squad fail miserably in front of my eyes under different managers (Keane, Jewell, McCarthy, Hirst and Lambert) but Kieran McKenna was the right man for the right job. Two promotions in three years, that was an amazing accomplishment by someone special!!! I am going to enjoy this one for now and look forward to the boys playing the BIG boys at Old Trafford, Anfield, Stamford and Etihad Stadium.

I travel around donning my Ipswich training jacket a lot this year. Perhaps, I am giving the team some good luck with that. Who knows! 😆😆

I am going to keep a close eye on how the team approaches the off-season. There should be a ton of ins and outs after they make a full evaluation of the current squad. And they don't have much time doing that before the start of next season.

Sum Sum Desserts 深深甜品 (Hong Kong, CHINA) ★★★☆☆

It's going to be a long night for me. My beloved Ipswich Town FC is playing their last game of the year with a chance to clinch automatic promotion to the Premiership. That will be back-to-back promotions for them if they're successful tonight! To make sure that I survive through the night, I have brought out my food delivery app and ordered some sweets for myself.

Sum Sum Desserts (深深甜品) is a Chinese dessert soup specialist in Sham Shui Po who has been mentioned in the Michelin Guide. I thought I couldn't go wrong with desserts highly praised by foreigners.

Black Sesame Soup (芝麻糊) – The sweet and nutty black sesame soup was pretty thick which was the texture I liked but it could be even more nutty (or grainy).

Look at the oversized tong yuen (湯圓). It came with two of those and as soon as I put the first one into my mouth, the fillings of black sesame paste immediately exposed!

Almond tea with egg white (蛋白杏仁茶) – Jelloman had the almond tea as usual. I thought the egg white made it a little less boring.

Both dessert soups weren't bad but I liked the ones from Tei Mou Koon Dessert (地茂館甜品) a little more, especially the almond tea.
