It was my first time to come across this pastry chain by the name of Pastry Saga (糕香世家). Judging by the signage on their wall, their bread and butter is their freshly made (現做現賣) bakery goods including croissant egg tarts, doughnuts, and mille-feuilles which are all right up my alley.
With limited options for a quick bite at K11 ECOAST in Shenzhen, I just figured this place was worth a closer look.
Mille-feuille (千層撻) (¥16) – They called them their “thousand layer” series. These came in two flavors – pistachio and corn.
Donut (多拿滋) (¥5) – I’ll admit that my standards for doughnuts have gone up considerably especially after my recent trip to Japan (where the doughnuts were consistently top-notch). These looked a little dry, which didn’t inspire much confidence.
Egg tart (前勝蛋撻) (¥4.5) – These looked more like it. Little nugget had the pleasure of having both of them and they were reportedly “OK”.
Well, I guess I will need to wait for another time to check out their egg tart myself. So for now, I’ll have to go with my son’s “OK but not great” verdict.
