I was walking around Jordan looking for a convenient lunch spot but instead, I saw this. For those who are old enough to remember its name, Tai Leng Pat Kee Dessert (大良八記) used to be one of the main players in the game of Chinese desserts (along with Hang Fa Lau Dessert 杏花樓 and a couple others) until Honeymoon Dessert (滿記甜品) came along and blew the game wide open. Tai Leng Pat Kee Dessert has since vanished in Hong Kong in the last decade so this visit to the new Tai Leng Pat Kee Dessert (新大良八記) was mainly for nostalgia's sake.
Jelloman and I used to visit the old version of Tai Leng Pat Kee Dessert when we were still dating. That seemed like a long long time ago.
They seemed to have a new lease of life with this brand-new store on Nathan Road and they are sticking to what made them famous a decade ago, their dessert soups.
Black sesame soup (芝麻糊) – I used to order this at TLPK all the time.
