Victoria Harbour Restaurant 維港茶餐廳 (Shenzhen, CHINA) ★★★☆☆

We couldn't draw it up any better than this. On our first Shenzhen trip together in more than a decade, The J.E.R.K. boys spent the majority of time at the humongous Uniworld Shopping Center (壹方天地店) in Longhua. We went on to take a taxi towards Lok Ma Chau border, enjoy a foot massage there and when the night finally falls, sit down for a quick dinner before crossing the border back to Hong Kong.

It was then that yours truly spotted Victoria Harbour Restaurant (維港茶餐廳) right across the street from Futian Port Control Point (福田口岸).

I was absolutely overjoyed when my iced milk tea arrived as I have yet to get my caffeine fix today. This was pretty creamy and I thought better than ones found in a lot of places back in Hong Kong. I was impressed.

Braised pork belly With preserved vegetables (梅菜扣肉) – The pork belly was nice and fatty, and the preserved vegetables very tender. Couldn't think of any better dish to go with our steamed rice.

Curry Beef Brisket (咖哩牛腩) – K got ourselves a soupy beef brisket dish served in a clay pot. The sauce was Hong Kong-style curry which was again perfect to slurp up with rice.

Stir-fried cauliflower (清炒花菜) – I was familiar with the term "flower veggie (
花菜)" and was too shy to ask. Turned out, it was just cauliflower and they've given us some nice spicy kick here with batches of chili. Pretty nice.

For such a small tea restaurant near the border, we really didn't expect much so the experience more than exceeded our expectation. Now, with a happy belly, we could finally get ready for the border-crossing which wasn't always the nicest part of a Shenzhen trip.
