Le Dessert Palais (Hong Kong, CHINA) ★★★☆☆

A few years ago, if someone had told me about a decent French patisserie opening on the streets of Mongkok, I would probably say he's dreaming. Seriously, I never thought it would really be happening!

Located on Mongkok's busiest street in Nathan Road, Le Dessert Palais represents the new wave of dessert bars and cafés in the city, modeling after the very successful ATUM Desserant.

Black currant mousse cake ($38) - I was intrigued by the appearance of this black current mousse cake but there was something missing there. Something other than the acidity from the black currant.

"Emptiness" ($78) - We have a lovely baked egg white in the shape of a hemisphere (half a sphere) floating in a vanilla soup with crushed hazelnuts and salted caramel served on the side. Star of the night without a question.

Tofu cheese pudding with ice cream balls and crumbles ($?) - Perfect for anyone looking for something light. The pudding itself was a little fluffy and mildly sweet so obviously it worked well with the much sweeter matcha and grapefruit ice-cream balls.

This truly feels like walking the streets of Paris. There's still a bit of work to be done but full marks for the team's dedication and enthusiasm.
