Booking for
a table at Tetsuya’s is extremely difficult. I tried to find something
available in March 2009 few months before I headed to Sydney but failed. This
time I acted smart and crazy to make a reservation for 5th March
2010 on 6th March 2009, a 365-day advance reservation!
I heard
about the Tetsuya’s back to the time I was studying in Sydney. I learned that
it was a very fine Japanese restaurant and expensive which I could not afford
as a student (and I wasn’t much enjoyed fine food back then). Tetsuya’s awarded
as one of the world’s 50 best restaurants since 2002 and stayed on the list
till now. The restaurant was once awarded to be the best restaurant in Australiasia.

Overlook at a Japanese garden from our table |
The
restaurant is located in the city and easy to find. Valet parking is available.
Chef Tetsuya converts his restaurant into a Japanese cottage, which most tables
overlook at a private Japanese garden. There is only one set of degustation
offered and it is in ten courses. Do expect to finish the meal over 4 hours.
