La Patisserie des Idees (Hong Kong, CHINA) ★★★★☆

It's been almost a year since I last visited La Patisserie des Idees now. I have been itching to come back for more and finally, I got the chance to do so this morning following my vaccine appointment in the neighborhood. It was pretty early in the morning so not surprisingly, it was very quiet here at D2 Place.

Melon Duo – I love the fact that they change things up from time to time. This is one of their new creations featuring a very delicate Japanese melon mousse (I think cantaloupe), melon cremeux, and a layer of sponge cake.

Really looking forward to this.....

I thought the melon mousse and cremeux worked really well together. The exciting crunch from the cremeux really gave the dessert some much needed bite and the mango jelly was a clever addition to bring some acidity to the mix, balancing the sweetness of melon perfectly.

Yuzu cheesecake – I had this quite a while back (checking my record, more than 3 years ago). but they have obviously made some modifications to the recipe by taking out the pineapple and citrus to keep it simple.

This is again primarily soft white cheese, but this time only with yuzu cremeux and sponge crumble. Unlike the previous dessert, the texture was pretty one-dimensional despite there were multiple layers of ingredient stacked together. It was like having a rectangular shaped marshmallow and the flavors of cheese hardly registered.
