My little nugget is off to his interview class in Tin Hau this morning so finally, some Me Time for both Jelloman and myself. It's been a while since we last visited Tai Hang (大坑) and the fact that it's just a short walk from Tin Hau makes it the obvious choice for our breakfast spot this morning.
I have already done my homework and it's Ask for Alonzo getting the call. Ask for Alonzo have three locations on the island side and this one is a little bit hidden next to Lin Fa Kung Garden (蓮花宮公園).
They have quite an extensive brunch menu including some really funky dishes like breakfast carbonara and French toast.
Iced latte – I am going to start the day off on the right foot and that's getting my caffeine fix. Not bad.
Uncle Tony's Benedict – This looks really good. Toasted brioche, with baby spinach, smoked bacon, poached eggs and parmigiano sabayon.
I am not really that hungry but this looks too good for me to turn down.
The egg yolk from the perfectly poached egg meshed so well with the parmigiano sabayon and toasted brioche. Yum~
Alonzo's signature tiramisu – Okay, the real reason I came here for brunch was partially because of this.
Every Italian restaurant in town tends to call their tiramisu, their "signature" tiramisu so I am not going to judge it until after my first bite.
This was really really good. Very creamy, rich and bursting with coffee and mascarpone flavors. The texture was perfect too; I almost wanted to use the word "runny" (in a good way) to describe it since I couldn't find a better adjective.
Unfortunately, we didn't have time for Lin Fa Kung this time around so until next time.
